We are the web's premier online converter of PortableDocument Format (PDF)files. Our site allows you to make a PDF compatible file withoutloading any special software. All it takes togenerate a PDF compatible file is to upload a postscript compatiblefile to our web site and then click on the resultinglink. See the FAQpage for more details.

Our aim is to make it simple for light andmoderate users to generate PDF files. For heavy use we recommend thefreely available AFPL Ghostscript . This isthe same software we use behind our web pages. We also recommend GSview as the best way to view andedit PDF files. Files converted on this site are also viewablewith Adobe Acrobat® software.

• May 19, 2019: Update by hosting provider broke a wrapper script. Made tempory fix a couple of days ago to bring the site backup. Made better fix today. Thanks again to DW for letting us know.
  - Increased max file size to about 30mb.


• July 3, 2018: Cleaning out left over links to the dot com site broke the ps2pdf.org converter. Thanks DW for letting us know.


• Jun 24, 2018: ps2pdf.com domain has a new owner and the dot com site has been transfered to the new owner with new hosting. The ps2dpf.org will continue to run as always with little change. We look forward to big changes for the com site but will keep the org site running as well. We have updated the contact page with a new email. Let us know if you have issues or questions.


• Jun 23, 2018: Updated banner with new conversions numbers


• Jun 19, 2018: Work on moving the site to a new hosting platform broke the site overnight. ps2pdf.org stayed up and is not moving.


• Oct 20, 2017: Server update broke the site for the last day. Thanks goes out to Mike S who took the time to email and let us know. Please don't hestitate in reaching out to us if you have problems converting files on the site.


• Dec 15, 2016: Time for the once every 3 year update. Improved the sites security. The change should hopefully not have impacted the quality of the conveted documents but if you have issues please reach out to us. Thanks to Jens Müller and Rohr University Bochum for pointing this out.


• Oct 9, 2013: Wow. A long time between changes. The site broke thanks to an OS change and a tweak was needed to bring it back. If you are still getting 500 errors let me know.


• Sept 14, 2010: Last weekends improvments broke the download link. All converstion for the past few hours have failed to give a good download link. Should be fixed now.


• Sept 15, 2010: Thanks to Chad on pointing out a bug with the new tweaks where file names were being truncated. I hopefully fixed it so you full file name will once again be showing instead of just 'C' or 'D'.

• July 11, 2007: The converter was down due to the hosting company issue with our current server load. For now we reduced the max file size back to 15mb and will run with that for while until we move to our backup servers.


• May 28, 2007: Way to long without an update. We increased the size of the file we will convert to a over 25mb. Hopefully more files will be converted without a problem now.
  
• June 3, 2006: We lost one of servers. Back up on a backup server.

This site is 'just a a web front end' to AFPLGhostscript . Our goal is to make it easy and quick to produce a Portable Document Format file. We do this by providing amechanism for a postscript file to be uploaded to our servers and then run it through Ghostscript to convert to a PDF file that isthen downloaded.

Ghostscript is described at http://www.ghostscript.com/doc/current/Readme.htm as a name of a set of software that provides:

This is something sorely missing from maximum downloaders and would have been interesting to strive however lamentably; it is only to be had if you improve. Folx for MacFolx makes downloading extraordinarily clean: open the page with the report to be downloaded, click on the link for your browser and Folx will begin the download for you. Folx pro free. Even within the Pro version, to prevent downloads slowing-down your connection, there´s also an on hand ‘Auto Speed’ feature which allocates internet traffic more flippantly.

• An interpreter for the PostScript^TM language and the Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF-- sometimes confused with Acrobat, Adobe's PDF browser and editor product);
• Input modules (utilities) for reading a variety of raster formats, including CMYK, GIF, JFIF (JPEG),MIFF, PBM/PGM/PPM, and PCX;

We highly recommend that if you find yourself converting lots of documents or have the need to convert raster formatsthat your download and install the package locally on your machine. Since we are 'just a web front end' to AFPLGhostscript we are not experts in configuration and operation of Ghostscript.

Because I am unable to access the partition, I downloaded Windows 7's restore disc and burned it to a CD-R, inserting it into the laptop's disc drive and setting it to boot the discdrive before the hard drive. This was met with limited success. Download windows 7 boot recovery disk.
